Faeriekind delight in spring,
That opens dainty flowers,
But warm zephyrs therein also bring
The calling of the Wander.
(This won't make much sense right now, it's for a project. Rough draftish. Making up a disease, and a culture and folklore that has sprung up around it. Think of this as their equivalent to "Ring Around The Rosy".)
Hey-ho, rosy-cheeks!
Come on out and play!
Step into the sun before
The Wander takes you away!
Mama will be cryin'
If you're out too late;
When you hear the pollen sing
You'll wander out the gate!
Thirteen days to reach the gorge
And then the clouds will sway!
Roots will be your only bread
While you grow flowers on your head!
Hey, ho! Hey, ho! Follow, follow me!
Walking and lifting things and concentrating too hard have been making me cranky, so I took a break to work on that cheap-bling project. Remember the clearance earrings?
The gold-plated ones are undergoing a slight makeover.
I actually borked it and got the wrong size stones to replace the originals. Because it's just CZ, I decided to try something for the hell of it. I cut the stones to fit using a Dremel, first with a grinding wheel and then with a felt polishing head. So the gable is now ground down to end in a plane instead of a point; of course it takes away from the luster of the cut, but it's not as obvious as I thought it might be.
ETA: you know, it occurred to me that I could take advantage of that "window" to the back of the gem to showcase some little detail, like a pattern or an engraving. Will have to think about that.
I've been chipping away at a very special, evil project. It will eat up any extra money I hoped to save from my raise and bonus, and it will stretch my time rather thin. I don't care. It stands poised to outgeek my T-shirt glory of earlier this year.
I'm sick of letting sickness keep me from entering all these awesome contests. So I'm going to concentrate on the only one this year that counts.
