Or: how not to dress for a Goth/Industrial club if you have any intention of getting out on the dance floor. Sore abs aside, however, I enjoyed being able to slap something together that looked like it had taken more time and tears than it did. Usually the opposite is true.

Soooo... I tried on the Corset plus chemise plus skirt and discovered that I was looking far more Victorian than expected. I've decided to go with that and nix the showy jewelry. With only the addition of a hat I could have had a serviceable wannabe riding habit, but I decided to upgrade to wannabe half mourning day wear; if I should have learned any lesson by now, it's that my grandiose ambitions only end in tears, but I persist to the bitter end nonetheless.
A tally of the carnage thus far:

- large black polyester blouse from Goodwill: $4.50
- large black velvet wraparound skirt from Goodwill: $4.50
- medium long burgundy etched velvet skirt from Goodwill: $4.50

- two spools of black grosgrain ribbon: $6.00
- one spool of sheer burgundy ribbon: $2.50
- one black hat from K-mart: $10.00
